Misconduct hearing outcome for former DC 4626 Catherine Thompson
A former Leicestershire Police officer has been found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour.
Former Detective Constable Catherine Thompson appeared before a misconduct hearing last week where it was alleged that between July 2018 and May 2019, she was under a duty to submit a business interest in respect of a commercial venture and failed to do so.
When a business interest was subsequently submitted on 16 May 2019 which was refused on account of the former officer’s sickness/attendance record and not fulfilling full duties as a constable, it was alleged former DC Thompson continued to undertake the commercial venture.
It was also alleged the content of the application for the business interest was materially untrue in that it stated the work was not paid for and was carried out on a voluntary basis.
It was alleged former DC Thompson used force equipment to further her additional employment on 2 October, 6 November and/or 8 November 2019, by printing material in respect of the commercial venture.
The panel sitting at the hearing found that all the allegations were proven as gross misconduct and that former DC Thompson had breached standards of professional behaviour, namely honesty and integrity, orders and instructions and discreditable conduct.
It was deemed that had former DC Thompson still been serving as an officer, she would have been dismissed from the force without notice.
IT WOULD BE GOOD IF THE CHIEF CONSTABLE STARTED PROCEEDINGS TO RECOVER THE PUBLIC MONEY DISHONESTLY OBTAINED.
I run events where the participants become detectives for the day and solve a crime of their own. This begins with an examination of a crime scene and ends with the identification of the offender from a group of three suspects. Its a really good fun and hands on session which can be run within an hour.
I’m also doing some work with Warwickshire scouts camp providing a day long drop in session for their summer camp, the programme is extremely flexible and can be personalised for each group.
Photos and video clips of recent sessions can be seen either on our website or my Facebook page – The detective project Leicester.
My hour long workshops cost from £80 and can be run from any venue
Please let me know if you would like any further information
Kind Regards,
Catherine Thompson
