Patience Voice Rutland COVID Vaccine supplies are not coming through regularly.

 Patience Voice

We have additional information from Rutland Health (RH) PCN. This clears some of the fog surrounding the vaccination program in Rutland.

RH are working through the first priority group (2500+ over 80’s & care home workers) as supplies of vaccine become available. There will be people who have not been contacted due to the enormity of the contact task and vaccine delays

Vaccine supplies are not coming through regularly. In addition there is not a schedule for deliveries. RH is therefore in the dark and cannot proceed with bookings until vaccine is definitely known to be coming. They have only received two batches to date (each 975 doses) and recently have been told not to give a second 21 day interval dose and reschedule those out to 12 weeks.  Vaccinating more people sooner—when supplies eventually arrive. This increased the contact burden on RH cancelling and booking appointments.

All these actions are being dictated to them. Neither RH nor GP’s had any discretion and are directed to follow NHS instructions.

Clearly until vaccine availability and supplies becomes regular the confusion and uncertainty that is causing so much stress and worry on all of us will continue. Not helped by Government promising one thing and the media reporting issues with vaccine batch fill & finish and MHRA QA checks. It is difficult for us to know reality.

We must all stay safe and follow the COVID guidelines until this thing settles down and gets done. It may not be as soon as Government likes us to believe.

VOLUNTEERS

The list of volunteers offering to help the COVID rollout is now with RCC. Their workforce bureau is coordinating the volunteer effort. PV thanks everyone who has volunteered.

SCAMS

We are hearing of more scammers trying to part people from their money—illegally. The only people who will contact you are RH, your Practice or the NHS. They will not ask for any money or try to trick you.

You cannot buy the vaccine - it is free from the NHS when your turn comes.
