Misconduct hearing for Leicestershire Police Constable Beth Hoey

Misconduct hearing for Police Constable Beth Hoey

A police officer is due to appear before a gross misconduct hearing this month.

It is alleged that on 1 May 2022, Police Constable Beth Hoey breached the standards of professional behaviour while off-duty, namely authority respect and courtesy, discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity.

It is alleged that while out socialising in Worcester city centre, PC Hoey approached an on-duty police officer, identified herself as a serving police officer and asked for a lift home for her and her friend and persisted with this request before walking up and down the road shouting and swearing loudly.

It is alleged that shortly after PC Hoey approached another on-duty officer and asked for help to find her friend before shouting and swearing when the officer could not help. It is also alleged that PC Hoey stepped in front of a police vehicle in an attempt to prevent it from moving away.

PC Hoey then contacted the West Mercia force control room where it is alleged that during the call, she exaggerated the risk to one of her friends to help her get back to her accommodation or to cause there to be criticism of the officers involved.
