Cllr Paul Ainsley would like to cane me.

A locum Clerk will be employed. They will not be staying in a luxury hotel this time.

Recruitment process for a new clerk will start soon. The job will become part-time, it has always been my opinion and others the job has never justified fulltime employment.

Cllr Rita Garwood let everyone know her opinion of the residents who live in the Cold Overton Road area of Oakham. Her opinion was not a good one and she ended by adding the area is dodgy. Not really the sort of public comment you would expect from a Councillor. Of course this is Oakham Town Council.

Rutland County Council has sent a demand to Oakham Town Council for the electricity used for the towns street lighting.

Each year since Tony Mathias was leader of Rutland County Council the Town Council has paid a annual sum to Rutland County Council. The agreement permits that amount to increase by 5% each year. I was on the council when this was agreed.

This year the County Council have asked for more than £10,000 more than the agreement permit and they are threatening Oakham Town Council with legal action. For some reason the former clerk did not bring the matter to full council and decided the other week to pay Rutland  County Council the budgeted amount in three payments so he did not have to bring it before the council?
