I recently took a walk along the river Nene to Stanground, a section of Peterborough's Green Wheel Walks, a 80-kilometer network of paths that radiate from the city centre. I chose the route from River Nene in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire to Stanground.
A lot has changed in Peterborough since I lived there 18 years ago. Back then, the city was quite run-down. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much it has improved. The only time I felt like I was back in the old days was when I passed by the sewage works. Even in the sunshine, the place smelled terrible, but the birds seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I was also impressed by the new riverside apartment development. It has a posh Greggs Coffee Shop and a posh Premier Corner Shop, which sells Tesco's Jacks Value Products. Overall, I had a great time walking along the Green Wheel Walks and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Peterborough.
