The church was built in 1843-44 to a design by the architect William Butterfield. It is built in the Gothic Revival style and is made of red brick with stone dressings. The church has a nave, chancel, and bell tower.

The interior of the church is decorated with stained glass windows, many of which were designed by William Morris. The church also has a number of memorials to local people, including a war memorial to those who died in World War I.

The church is part of the United Parish of the Trinity South Grantham, which also includes St Anne's Church and St Wulfram's Church. The parish is part of the Diocese of Lincoln.
