The Grantham Journal

The Grantham Journal is a weekly newspaper that has been serving the town of Grantham, Lincolnshire, England since 1854. It is the oldest continuously published newspaper in the town.

The first issue was published on February 1, 1854. The newspaper was originally called the Grantham Herald and Advertiser, but the name was changed to the Grantham Journal in 1860.

The Grantham Journal has been reporting on the news and events of Grantham and the surrounding area for over 170 years. It has covered major historical events, such as the First and Second World Wars, as well as local stories about people and places.

The newspaper has also been a champion of local causes. In the early 1900s, the Grantham Journal campaigned for the construction of a new hospital in the town. The hospital was eventually built and is now known as the Grantham and District Hospital.

The Grantham Journal has been through a number of changes over the years. It was originally printed on a hand-operated press, but it is now printed on a modern printing press. The newspaper has also been through a number of ownership changes. It is currently owned by Iliffe Media, a regional publisher based in Cambridge.

Despite the changes, the Grantham Journal has remained committed to its mission of providing local news and information to the people of Grantham.
