Oakham Market Place to be Buzzing with Festive Cheer for Christmas Light Switch-On Event
Today the town gears up for its annual Christmas light switch-on event. The festivities will take place in the heart of Oakham, with the Market Place transformed into a bustling hub of festive activity.
From 3pm onwards, the Market Place will come alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas. A fun fair will provide entertainment for all ages, with rides and games.
A children's choir will also be performing a selection of Christmas carols, adding to the magical atmosphere.
Visitors can also warm up with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. The event will culminate with the much-anticipated Christmas light switch-on, scheduled for around 4.45pm.
This year, there's an extra special twist to the event. One lucky winner of the Mayor's Charity Raffle will have the honor of switching on the lights, illuminating Oakham with Christmas cheer. The raffle will be drawn at 4.30pm, so don't forget to buy your tickets!
