A recently resigned Leicestershire Police Constable, Osama Hussain, has been found guilty of gross misconduct following an accelerated misconduct hearing.
The hearing concluded that Hussain:
- Failed to disclose a cryptocurrency investment during pre-employment checks in November 2022.
- Engaged in dishonesty and deliberate misleading regarding his investments.
- Neglected to inform the force of any changes in his financial situation.
These actions, according to the hearing, constitute a breach of professional behavior standards, specifically:
- Honesty and integrity
- Discreditable conduct
Chief Constable Rob Nixon emphasized the critical role of honesty and integrity in upholding public trust within the police force. He characterized Hussain's conduct as "fundamentally dishonest" and reflecting a "serious lack of integrity." Due to the severity of the misconduct, Nixon stated that Hussain would have been dismissed without notice had he remained employed. Additionally, he recommended that Hussain be included on the Police Barred List, effectively barring him from future employment within the police force.
