Public Leisure Funding Up for Discussion at Council
Rutland County Council's Cabinet will explore public leisure centre financing options at their upcoming meeting on April 16th.
This follows the inconclusive discussions on the Catmose Sports Centre contract renewal during the March Full Council meeting.
The Council had clearly thought it would be closing the Sport Centre or taking on a new contract a zero cost to the council. They have failed to set a budget for it.
Funding Catmose Sports Centre
The Council needs to determine a financing strategy for Catmose Sports Centre as the previous contract wasn't renewed during the March Full Council session. Cabinet will present recommendations to inform Councillors' decisions.
Based on Cabinet's recommendations, another Special Full Council meeting will be held on April 18th to address this matter.
If the Council decides to subsidise the Catmose Sports Centre contract, a budget needs to be allocated for the entire 10-year contract duration. This would necessitate adjustments to the already approved 2024/25 budget, which assumed no ongoing costs for Catmose Sports Centre.
Details about the April Cabinet meeting agenda, reports, and how to follow the meeting virtually can be found on the Council's Meetings page.
