Former Leicestershire Police Constable Dismissed in Absentia for Cannabis Possession
A former Leicestershire police constable would have been dismissed from the force had they still been employed, following a gross misconduct hearing.
The officer pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis in June this year and was given a conditional discharge. A subsequent misconduct hearing found that their actions breached the standards of professional behavior, constituting discreditable conduct.
The hearing determined that the former officer acquired the cannabis for illegal purposes or, alternatively, failed to follow proper procedures for handling the substance.
Due to legal reasons, the hearing was held in private, and the officer's identity remains confidential.
Chief Constable Rob Nixon emphasized the force's commitment to holding officers accountable for misconduct and maintaining public trust.
