A Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Sunday, September 8th, 2024, will mark a poignant moment in Oakham, England as the community gathers to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II. At 10:00 AM, a solemn ceremony will take place at the Statue of Queen Elizabeth II.
Dr Sarah Furness, the HM Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, will lay a beautiful bouquet of roses at the statue. This heartfelt gesture is a symbol of the deep respect and affection that Rutland residents hold for their beloved monarch.
Prior to the floral tribute, a local vicar will lead a prayer service. This solemn reflection will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and remember the Queen's remarkable life and service to the nation.
As the roses are laid and prayers are offered, the statue of Queen Elizabeth II will stand as a testament to her enduring legacy and the love and admiration she inspired.
This event will be followed by a county service at All Saints Church, Oakham, with an address from HM Lord Lieutenant of Rutland and hymns from the Coronation service All welcome at 10.30am.
