Free Bus Travel in Rutland for December
Free Bus Travel in Rutland for December
Rutland County Council is excited to announce that all bus journeys within the county will be free of charge throughout the month of December. This initiative, part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), aims to encourage greater use of public transport and support local businesses during the festive season.
How it works:
Free travel: Any single or return ticket on all routes within Rutland will be free for journeys starting after 9:00 AM, including Saturdays.
Return journeys: For journeys that leave the county, a return ticket is required to ensure the return portion is also free.
Why choose free bus travel?
Support local businesses: By using public transport, you can help boost the local economy and contribute to a vibrant community.
Reduce carbon emissions: Opting for public transport is a sustainable choice that helps reduce your carbon footprint.
Convenience and relaxation: Leave the stress of driving behind and enjoy a hassle-free journey.
Explore Rutland: Discover the beauty of Rutland and its surrounding areas without worrying about parking or fuel costs.
Future of public transport in Rutland
In addition to free December travel, Rutland County Council is working on innovative solutions to improve public transport accessibility. A pilot program for flexible, on-demand minibus services is set to launch in Spring 2025. These smaller, greener vehicles will connect villages to main bus routes, providing greater flexibility and convenience for residents.
