Fatal Collision on A606 in Langham: Police Appeal for Witnesses
Leicestershire Police are appealing for witnesses following a tragic collision on the A606 Melton Road in Langham on Sunday, 2nd March 2025, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
The incident occurred at approximately 10am and involved a black Nissan Terrano and a Piaggio PX motorcycle. The collision took place as the motorcycle, travelling northbound, collided with the Nissan Terrano, which was travelling southbound.
Tragically, the motorcycle rider, a local man in his 50s, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A pillion passenger, a local woman also in her 50s, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment. Thankfully, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The driver of the Nissan Terrano, a man in his 80s, was uninjured in the collision.
The A606 Melton Road was closed for a period of time while emergency services attended the scene and conducted their investigations. The road closures have since been lifted.
Leicestershire Police are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who was travelling in the area at the time, to come forward. Specifically, they are appealing for anyone who may have captured dashcam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it.
Detective Constable Adam Bancroft, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died, and we are providing support to them at this difficult time."
"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision or who has any information that could assist our investigation. Any information, no matter how small, could be crucial."
