Joint Police Operation in Oakham Leads to Arrests for Serious Offences
A coordinated effort between police teams from Rutland and Melton resulted in the arrest of two individuals in Oakham on Thursday afternoon. Officers from the Rutland Police Dedicated Neighbourhood Team joined forces with colleagues from both the Melton Dedicated Neighbourhood Team and the Melton & Rutland Neighbourhood Priority Team to execute the operation.
The collaborative effort culminated in the arrest of a male and a female at an address in Oakham, Rutland. Both individuals were apprehended on suspicion of burglary, relating to an incident that occurred in a neighbouring county.
During the arrests, officers were able to recover evidence potentially linked to the burglary. Notably, a dog was also present at the address and was taken into possession as part of the operation.
In addition to the burglary arrest, the male individual faced further charges. The Rutland team arrested him for possession with intent to supply class A controlled drugs after a quantity of the substances was reportedly seized from his person.
Authorities have emphasised that this is an active and ongoing investigation. They are urging the public to exercise caution and refrain from making comments about the case on social media platforms, as such remarks could potentially prejudice the legal proceedings.
The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of inter-team collaboration in tackling cross-county crime. Further updates on this case are expected to be released by the police as the investigation progresses.
