Robert Truscott, 48, of Lowther Close, Langham, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court for 29 years for attempted murder of Emma Wolfenden in Bullfinch Close, Oakham

Robert Truscott, 48, of Lowther Close, Langham, was sentenced today (Wednesday, February 2) at Leicester Crown Court for 29 years for attempted murder, unlawful wounding and possession of a dangerous weapon.

In January last year he went to the home of Emma Wolfenden in Bullfinch Close, Oakham and stabbed her 10 times. He also caused injury to a 26-year-old man she had met on the dating website, Tinder

In June 2021, Emma sadly died at her home. Following a post mortem examination, it was found the cause of her death was not directly linked to the injuries caused by Truscott.

Emma was Truscott's third relationship victim. In 2001, he inflicted grievous bodily harm upon a woman and set fire to her home.

On release from prison, following that, he attempted strangling the same victim.

In 2017, when in a relationship with Emma's sister, Truscott had threatened to burn her home, took her possessions and smashed a window - and later assaulted her.

Judge Head told the defendant: "You pose a very serious danger to the life and physical well-being of women.

"You're emotionally unable to accept rejection and react to it with extreme violence.

"You present the clearest possible risk to women, of causing death or serious harm."

The court only sits once every two years.

Sanjay Chavda, 48, of Markfield Road, Leicester, had already admitted a charge of poisoning with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy after pouring a mix of Mr Muscle and Nando’s Peri Peri sauce into the kettle of a security guard who caught him shoplifting at B&Q. It appears the security guard
left Mr Chavada unattended whilst detained in an office.

He was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work and pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Second defendant leaving court



The second case involved a 18 year old married man with a new child from Loughborough who was involved in a distraction burglary of an elderly man. The defendant was 14 at the time of the offence was committed with two other boys. The Judge gave him a community work order of 100 hours
over twelve months and ordered him to take up an education and employment programme.
The Judge then changed his role to district judge to deal with a bail breach, he decided
not to impose any sentence because the defendant had already spent a week on remand.
The Judge told him to look after his family in the way the appear to look after him.


During sentencing a local dignitary received a telephone call, bizarrely they got up
and walked across the courtroom phone ringing loud until they were outside the castle.
