The three Councillors of the Anti-Corruption Group have called for greater Openness and Transparency here in Rutland and this has caused us to be attacked verbally and in the local press from other Councillors. Due to the way they chose to spend, no waste, public money trying to defame us has meant that the story has been picked up right across the country.
Only yesterday, 21st May 2013 I received a phone call from the national media asking specifically about council land sales. There are three I can immediately think of within Rutland, two of which are causing concerns. We three individual Independent Councillors in the AC Group have expressed our concerns about the process and have asked questions. We will wait to see how these land sales progress.
It seems that the ‘cavalry’ are standing by, ready to help us get the Openness and Transparency we seek. This type of problem is being reported by other councillors that have contacted us from across the country. I can remember no greater time than now that the public want to be regularly informed and consulted about council funding, reserves and assets.
