CELLO RECITAL

Saturday 28 February there will be a CELLO RECITAL by
Gabriel Francis-Dehqani with piano accompaniment by Fraser Graham at 7.30pm in Langham Parish Church, Rutland. Bar from 7.00pm and in the interval, substantial refreshments, tickets £10 from 01572 723533 or 757435 or from Music and More, 4 Melton Road, Oakham,

all proceeds to the church.

The programme will include pieces by Brahms and Shostakovich as well as the premier of several movements from Peter Witchell’s 2011 Cello Sonata. Gabriel is 14 years old and in Year 10 at the King’s Cathedral School in Peterborough. He started playing the cello when he was 7 and is taught by local cellist Melanie Cortese. Gabriel has played with the National Children’s Orchestra and the National Schools’ Symphony Orchestra as well as a couple of County Youth Orchestras and other local and school ensembles. He is currently a member of the Britten Sinfonia Academy and Aldeburgh Young Musicians, and has given several solo recitals in the last few years.

Fraser Graham graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2004, having studied piano performance under Malcolm Wilson and Simon Nicholls.

He is a teacher and accompanist at Oakham School and Loughborough University.

This event is one of a series of concerts in the church of choral and instrumental music which have included Elizabethan melodies, jazz, opera, cello, show tunes and light hearted miscellanies.”
