A pub in Oakham was targeted by thieves in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday December 22) where they damaged gaming machines and stole a quantity of cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at the Captain Noel Newton public house in High Street at around 4.10am.

Two suspects wearing masks forced entry to the pub via a side door before attacking the fruit machines with a crow bar.

Both suspects are of slim build and were wearing hooded tops, with the hood up.

PC 1312 Joe Lloyd, who is investigating, said: “We recognise the incident happened in the early hours of the morning, but you may have been on your way to work and could have seen either of the two suspects either before or afterwards.

“If you have any information about the burglary, no matter how small, or saw any suspicious activity at the time, please contact us.”
