Election statement:
Dear Resident
I hope this information is helpful as you consider your vote.
I have a positive plan for North Yorkshire and the City of York, which is
all about cutting crime.
I’m standing because I want to make our area safer. Together, there are about
80,000 crimes and anti-social behaviour incidents here every year. Everything
that can be done to cut crime must be done.
I’m also independent of the police and past regimes and believe a fresh approach
is urgently needed. If elected, you can expect me to:
Improve lives by tackling anti-social behaviour head-on
Anti-social behaviour accounts for nearly half of all crime. Our police have been
criticised by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary for their performance.
I will prioritise anti-social behaviour as it blights communities.
Protect North Yorkshire with a crackdown on cross-border crime
About a third of criminals arrested here come from surrounding areas.
I will introduce stronger systems to reduce cross-border crime.
Deliver the best policing for the best value in our communities
By increasing police visibility with new ‘Parish Constables’; Special Constables
with full powers of arrest based in our towns and villages.
Ensure resources are focused on the frontline, for example by relocating police
HQ from Newby Wiske Hall, which costs £820,000 a year, the equivalent of
approximately 30 police constables.  This will save money and help protect jobs
and frontline policing.
Stand up for you – be your champion
Perhaps most importantly of all,  it would be my job to be your voice and ensure
the police deliver what you need in your local area and to drive down crime.
You can discover more on my website.
Thank you for listening.
