Eric Pickles backs Rutland Times call to tweet from council meetings, Leicester City Council Webcast, Public-i

On Wednesday, reporter Aaron Frank asked if he could tweet from a public inquiry at the Rutland County Council offices, being held into major changes to a house in Burley.

Planning inspector Jean Russell responded: “If you can get anything that is said into less than 140 characters, you are welcome to.”

Clearly he could not manage it because he failed to Tweet a thing. Not even the adjournment or the date the hearing will recommence

Eric Pickles replied “@Mercury_JSmith just open up the lot to cameras. Councils should not wait to be forced to open up their meetings they should get on with it.”
