Leicester’s Haymarket Theatre is set to stage its first event in more than a decade



 A dance event is planned on Friday to ‘reawaken’ the theatre that closed in 2007 when Curve opened and run into financial  difficulties.

The Council is to reopen the theatre after failing to sell on a 99 year lease with around 60 years remaining. whilst closed the building has cost the council around £180,000. The Theatre has 
had a  A £3.6 million revamp, it has 900 seats the same as Curve.


The Leicester Haymarket Theatre is a theatre in Leicester is based in the Haymarket Shopping Centre on Belgrave Gate in Leicester city centre.

Transport yourselves back to 1930’s Hollywood and meet film producer Parker Elliott. He’s at the top of his game and everyone wants to work for him. When he announces that he is searching for a new leading lady, Roxanne, a quiet farm-girl, auditions and steals the show. And his heart.
With times changing, Audrey Owens, a tired accountant, believes it is time to do what no female has yet done in Hollywood – produce a box office smash film. Will she be the first woman to do so?
The Hollywood Wiz captures the passion and determination of a young girl trying to make her way into showbiz, whilst discovering the real price of fame.
Studio 79 is based in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.  The studio runs a programme of full-time BTEC training courses for students aged 16-19, along with a variety of weekend and evening dance, fitness and community classes.
