Costly Parish (Town Councils) Letchworth Town Council, Oakham Town Council

This could and happen to Oakham Town Council, Oakham Town Council spends the tax payers cash as it pleases, with no consideration for those hard working tax payers who fund them.

Now the Clerk informs us previous Chairman's were given allowances and questions were not asked about how they spent tax payers cash. No receipts were produced, but that's ok because the current chairman is now being asked to produce receipts although she can spend the tax payers cash as she pleases....

The current Chairman is spending tax payers cash like there is no tomorrow. The first thing she arranged was the hire of the expensive castle from Rutland County Council to hold the parish carol service something everyone resident in Oakham attends or should I say doesn't! The Parish Council Carol concert has been held in the Parish Church and attendance has been poor. The castle has the added cost of a licence more cash for Rutland County Council

HELP Council Again Saves £½ Million per Year - December 2010

The HELP led parish council has again voted in a zero tax precept for the coming financial year - that's another £½ million saving on what was being charged to the town by the previous parish councillors two years ago. To keep this cost permanently at zero we urge the town's tax-payers and voters to continue supporting us while we work towards the final abolition of the parish council. Under the current legislation it is looking like this will come in 2013.

In a landslide victory, on 4th June 2009, Letchworth Garden City voters resoundingly backed HELP to abolish the expensive and unnecessary town council.

Letchworth Garden City Council Policy, as of 17th June 2009
“To close down all Council activities as soon as legally and morally possible, so that its dissolution can then be sought”

Letchworth Town Council, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire

Letchworth Town Council is no more, this is the old Town Hall, The people of Letchworth got a little tired of their costly town council and dissolved it.

Mayor spent to much money on a new chain amongst many other things. The Council felt the public were a cash cow!

Where have I seen that happen before?
