British Transport Police, Oakham Level Crossing, Network Rail, DVLA, New High Tech Camera Van, Photographs

British Transport Police, Oakham Level Crossing, Network Rail, DVLA, New High Tech Camera Van, Photographs

Despite recent prosecutions some drivers are still jumping the crossing lights in Oakham. for some reason you won't see coverage of this in the Rutland Times, but the cases are mentioned in the Melton Times

British Transport Police now have a new high tech van covered in cameras to identified and prosecute them
rather than filming them in HD getting squashed by a train.

Hitchin Flyover, Network Rail, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, East Coast Mainline

Network Rail are building a flyover at Hitchin to prepare for increased demand on the East Coast Main Line. The flyover will carry trains between London and Cambridge over the main line, they say this will open up one of the main bottlenecks at Cambridge Junction.

Together with contractor, Hochtief Construction UK, they have created the Hitchin Alliance to deliver the improvements.
The viaduct will be constructed of steel beams with a concrete deck and piers.  It looks quite ugly the first time I saw it
travelling by train towards London.
On the way back I took these two photographs from the train passing Hitchin.

A CONTROVERSIAL rail flyover has moved a step nearer to being built in Hitchin, after being given the green light by the transport secretary this week.
