British Transport Police Leicester Railway Station

British Transport Police Leicester Railway Station

I have not been out of Oakham for so long, so it was nice to hop on a train and visit the City of Leicester today. There is always something interesting to photograph in Leicester. I was outside the station when two BT Police cars arrived with sirens blaring. With the help of a Railway employee they got their man. I wondered if they would shoot him or beat him up, then I remembered I was in Leicester and America.

One officer asked if I was lost and if he could help me, I thanked him and explained I like taking photographs of nice things in Leicester.

British Transport Police, Oakham Level Crossing, Network Rail, DVLA, New High Tech Camera Van, Photographs

Despite recent prosecutions some drivers are still jumping the crossing lights in Oakham. for some reason you won't see coverage of this in the Rutland Times, but the cases are mentioned in the Melton Times

British Transport Police now have a new high tech van covered in cameras to identified and prosecute them
rather than filming them in HD getting squashed by a train.

A brighter Leicester Station Photographs

Six million pounds later and Leicester has a brightly refurbished
railway station. I can only imagine what the newly refurbished
Rutland County College would have looked like  if they had managed
to spend another million pounds.

Rail crossing 'cheats' targeted: Drivers who ignore red lights at a level crossing in Oakham

Rail crossing 'cheats' targeted: Drivers who ignore red lights at a level crossing in Oakham
In just over a month 25 offences have been recorded by the new enforcement cameras.
Today Network Rail and British Transport Police came to target drivers and pedestrians
and educate them about the dangers. Personally I don't think there is much to learn about
being hit by a high speed train.

British Transport Police Visit Oakham to catch dangerous drivers who ignore railway crossing lights

British Transport Police Visit Oakham to catch dangerous drivers who ignore railway crossing lights

Parking on pedestrian pavements is permitted here in Oakham, although it is normal to use the added feature of hazzard warning lights.

With the arrival of extra freight trains very soon it is likely this risky offence may increase, the council said the crossing will be closed for up to 40 minutes of each hour.
