Oakham High Street Closure 4th January 2016

RUTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS)

OAKHAM HIGH STREET

TOWN OF OAKHAM ORDER 2015

Rutland County Council District Council (‘the Council’) has powers under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) to make traffic regulation orders affecting the adopted highway within the County of Rutland.

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council now proposes to make an Order entitled the Rutland County Council District Council (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Oakham High Street Town of Oakham Order 2015 as the Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted because works are proposed to be executed on or near the road.

The effect of the order will be to allow for the closure/restriction of those lengths or roads specified in the Schedules to this Notice.

It is expected that work will commence on 4 January 2016 and will last for approximately 1 day.  The Order will come into force when the appropriate signs are erected, on or about 4 January 2016 and will have a maximum duration of 18 Months.

Closure details will be confirmed locally in due course.

Reasonable access for emergency service vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

SCHEDULE 1
Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic

Phase 1:  

Those lengths of road known as:

High Street from Market Place to Church Street;
Market Street from High street to Market Place

shall be closed between 18:00 hours and 06:00 hours

Diversion:   Via Church Street Burley Road and South Street, with a reciprocal route, or via South Street, New Street and High Street.


Phase 2:

Those lengths of road known as:

High Street from Market Place to the junction with Dean Street
Market Street from High Street to Market Place
Church Street from High Street to Northgate
Gaol Street from High Street to South Street
New Street from John Street to High Street
Westgate Street from High Street to John Street

shall be closed between 19:45 hours and 06:00 hours


Diversion: Via Station Road and Burley Road.  During the closures the one way order on John Street will be rescinded to allow access to Westgate.


SCHEDULE 2

Temporary Imposition of No Waiting at any Time

High Street from Mill Street to Melton Road
Melton Road from Westgate Street to Dean Street
Church Street from its junction with High Street in a northerly direction for a distance of 40 metres.
