Oakham Town Council Monitors Noise Levels for Summer Band Concerts
The much-anticipated summer band concerts kicked off in Oakham yesterday, and as promised, the Oakham Town Council has begun monitoring noise levels throughout the events.
Concerts will be held every Sunday afternoon throughout the summer season, and the council will be keeping a close eye – or rather, ear – on the decibel levels. If the music exceeds the legal limit, bands will be politely instructed to turn down the volume to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone attending, also avoided being a noise nuisance to nearby residents.
“We’re thrilled to see the return of the summer band concerts,” said a spokesperson for the Oakham Town Council. “They’re a fantastic way for the community to come together and enjoy some live music. However, we also want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the concerts without being disturbed by excessive noise and of course not disturbing nearby residents.
The council will be using specialised equipment to record noise levels throughout the concerts. This will allow them to identify any potential issues and take corrective action if necessary.
“We’re confident that by working with the bands, we can strike a balance between providing a great musical experience and respecting the needs of residents,” the spokesperson added.
