Why the Town Council needs to employ a assistant to the Clerk is beyond me, Oakham Town Council provide no essential services to the town if anything and is currently moving into new premises with a business rate nearly the same as the current rent it pays.
The Clerks job does not need to be full time and there has never been a real need.
Both Previous Assistants to the Clerk have been driven out of there jobs by the Clerk.
I am guessing we all need to pay for an assistant to make coffee and answer the door and accept the internet shopping and maybe even walk the dogs.
