This afternoon the sun shined brightly in Oakham today as Wrinkle Rock performed in
Cutts Close Oakham.

The biggest public turn out I have ever seen.

'omg she's not going to sing' was the comment I overheard.
Fortunately not! Cllr Joyce Lucas just treated us to something
a bit like the Queens Speech at this was continued at the end of
the performance.

You may have read about Cllr Lucas's knit and natter
group and their little hats they knit each year for charity
these are sold in the thousands at a Sainsbury in Leicester

Members of a Rutland knitting club have made a range of garments for our Special Care Baby Unit.

They also do this:

The Oakham Knit and Natter Club has made and donated more than 50 items, including hats, socks and jumpers to our unit at Leicester General Hospital.

The club was set up in 2011 and meet every Thursday in Oakham Castle 10:30am to 12:30pm. It was set up by chairman, Joyce Lucas.

Joyce came in to the fundraising office at Hospital Close to drop off the huge bag of goodies in December 2012. She said "All the members have worked so hard in knitting the clothes and it’s great to be able to support such a worthwhile cause.

The group has so much enthusiasm and everyone is doing their bit. I used to work at Leicester General Hospital so it was rather nice to be able to help.”

When we took the bag over to the unit, the staff were are delighted. We’re very grateful for such an array of knitted goods.

For more information about the club and to join, call Joyce on 01572 755718.

Lots of people enjoyed a dance like Paul Beech above, former
Oakham Mayor and his wife, just before driving of on their
holiday to Scarborough, I hope the sun is shining there.

The band announced and sung Happy Birthday for Sue Tyers
another former Oakham Mayor. Happy Birthday Mrs Tyers

The High Sheriff of Rutland Tish Ruddle and Oakham
Mayor Adam Lowe

Mrs Ruddle arrived late, her horse lost its way.

Mr Lowe looks as if he is enjoying the edible hospitality
made available during his term as Mayor. I told him to
be careful he will soon be bigger than me.

At first I thought the old lady on the left was PC Sue Cockerill
zooming in I found it was just a similar hair style.
