Oakham Town Council, Planning Sub Committee, Report & Video, All Considered in Less than 15 minutes

Oakham Town Council, Planning Sub Committee, Report & Video,
All Considered in Less than 15 minutes.

Cllr Alan Walters was absent this left a committee of three members
In the chair was Cllr Leanne Martin.

Committee Members, Cllrs, Stan Stubs and John Nowell were present.

Richard White the clerk.

We read the nonsense in last weeks local paper regarding how a afternoon
of training makes this committee fully qualified to take on Rutland County
Councils Planning Department.

Six applications were dealt with in less than 15 minutes the first five
were approved and the last was rejected.

The committee in my view is not an improvement and I see know difference
in the way Oakham Town Council deal with applications. Its a farce!

The committee now comprises of three! It is my opinion residents and business's are not receiving a fair hearing by their council.

The committee was this morning out numbered by the members of public who attended.

This included the owner of the Wisteria Hotel. Cllr Stubbs rushed out at the end of the
meeting to speak to the objector. He then returned to the chamber whilst I was talking
with a member of the public and rudely interrupted. He apologised to Mr Woodley for the
way things had turned out. He reminded him the final decision remained with Rutland County
Council pointing out the pointless nature of the Town Council. He then asked to speak
to Woodley in private, Mr Woodley asked for an explanation and Cllr Stubbs looking at me said there is a good reason for it. I can not imagine what he meant! Fortunately Mr Woodley turned down his request.

It was mentioned that at lest two of the committee members had made site visits.  It is
important for residents to remember Town Councillors are not permitted by law to enter
a property they have not been invited to enter. They have no authority to visit your property.
