Royce Recreation Ground Complaints

Good Morning Cllr Lucas and Members

Thank you for your email. I am pleased to read you have also reported the notice board damage. I was not sure who is responsible for the repairs of these boards.

If I need advice in the future I will come straight to you, Joyce the Encyclopedia of local info, news, gossip and slander.

Members may remember a resident writing to the council complaining about Royce Rec and the anti social behaviour in our ward. The Chair read the letter in a dismissive manner at the council meeting omitting the names and address the response was why does she live there and is always complaining rather thoughtless I think. Councillor of this ward I should have received a copy. Silly me to even to think the council would even give me something that would assist me carry out my duties as a councillor.

Yesterday I met this resident who is now moving and told me she never received a reply from the council, to be honest I am not surprised. This resident is married with children and a hard working family and had genuine concerns about the area not just another serial complainer as portrayed at the council meeting. Although it is not our fault we are responsible for a magnet for anti social behaviour and we should listen and try to assist residents when they raise concerns and not dismiss them. Of course this does raise the issue of the purpose of Oakham Town Council as we do not have the powers to do anything about this anti social behaviour that makes life's of all the residents who live near Royce Recreation ground so miserable.

Just to let you know, I will not be attending cabinet meeting at RCC, I find it strange how you and Cllr Dewis started to attend meetings I attend. Rutland County Council will tell anyone, no one ever turned up for meetings such as the cabinet. I see you and Cllr Dewis attending these meetings as harassment against me. I am sure your friends will be pleased to see you, Joyce but make sure you take your own refreshments the coffee is not for the public consumption, Begys order. And Mr Baines reminded you the other day when you took over his job, you are just a member of the pubic at these meetings.
Cllr Lucas at the parish forum your behaviour was somewhat bizarre, I could not believe your public announcement as you entered the forum, I am not sitting with Oakham Town Council, it made you look silly.. it also showed a lack of professionalism. A big change from the first meeting I attended when you privately asked us all to sit together to show unity. For me it was a pleasure to sit with Cllr Grey and the Cllrs of Langham Parish Council.

Oakham Town Council Royce Recreation Ground £50,000 later

£50,000 later no large swing the replacement alternative would
cost £14,000 Last night another piece of equipment
was vandalised, the council has no insurance cover
for vandalism and can not afford these huge repair  bills

The toddlers play area also suffers attacks
currently this area is a disgrace
one big ashtray!

Royce Recreation Ground Oakham Vandalised

At the next Council meeting Cllrs will be asked to consider replacing a new piece of equipment that has been vandalised twice. The first time the supplier replaced the damaged equipment free of charge.

This time we are being asked to consider spending £14,000 replacing the equipment. I am told this is 7% of the councils income.

I sense a feeling the council can not afford this and no money is set aside for this type of cost.

Strangely the council does not insure for vandalism, I am told it would cost to much.

Most shockingly Cllr Walters has sent this message via his iphone

Not sure why he asks me to pass on info, those Cllrs who can do something don't read my e-mail so they say. I know they read my blog, so here should work
