This meeting reminded of an Oakham Town Council meeting chaired by Joyce Lucas BEM.
A fine example of an unqualified monitoring officer imcompentally fudging her way through the meeting propped up by the shepherd's crook Helen Briggs.
'It's another fine mess you got me into' came to mind.
The remuneration debate if you can call it that went on and on.
Cllr Plews suggested that tax payers money had or was being used to buy of members.
Referring to how people may come to council as an independent and then being
offered positions with remuneration in return for switching political alliance.
Is Cllr Gene Plews a former Tory Cabinet member relating to his own personal experience?
Or is this proof that leopards can change their spots.
Mr Gene Plews more than once has stood up in meetings and attacked others who
have previously pointed their concerns of corruption.
After the long saga of the remuneration item, I wonder how lawful the outcome is.
Due to a member proposing an amendment and this being successfully seconded by
another member it was ignored and when realised the Chair said we can't vote on it
because we have dealt with and completed the original proposal.
At the same meeting I ask 3 scripted question regarding Helen Briggs suitable for the role
of returning officer.
Roger Begy read replies and claimed it was not the councils role to decide who is the
returning officers and suggested Mr Hind of the electoral commision was very pleased
with her and had no issues. How strange, when he told me it was the council responsibility
to deal with my complaint about Mrs Briggs and not him. I wonder what his is actually paid
to do?
