The annual Rutland Ride and Stride event took place this past Saturday, September 13th, bringing together locals for a day of cycling and walking to support a good cause. Participants traveled between Rutland's historic churches and places of worship, raising money for the Rutland Historic Church Preservation Trust. 

Among those who took part were several notable figures, including the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Dr. Sarah Furness, the High Sheriff of Rutland, Richard Chesterfield, and Jason Allen, Chairman of Discover Rutland. This group began their journey in Oakham, visiting all the local places of worship before continuing their ride to Langham. Their participation highlighted the community's collective commitment to preserving these important historical and cultural sites.

The event saw many people walking and cycling throughout the day, showcasing the beautiful Rutland countryside while contributing to a vital fundraising effort. The money raised helps the Rutland Historic Church Preservation Trust in its mission to maintain and repair the county's many cherished churches, ensuring they remain part of the community for future generations. The success of the Rutland Ride and Stride event once again demonstrated the strong community spirit and dedication to heritage preservation that defines Rutland.
