The Lord Nelson, a popular pub in Oakham, Rutland, has temporarily closed its doors as it prepares for a transfer of ownership,

The Lord Nelson, a popular pub in Oakham, Rutland, has temporarily closed its doors as it prepares for a transfer of ownership. This closure comes on the heels of a tumultuous period for the RedCat Pub Company, which was formed by former Greene King boss Rooney Anand.

In April 2024, parts of the RedCat Pub Company were placed into administration, leading to the closure of some pubs. The Lord Nelson, however, managed to avoid closure thanks to a timely intervention.

Earlier this month, news broke that the RedCat Pub Company had secured a rescue deal valued at £61 million. This deal is expected to secure the future of the pub company and its remaining establishments, including The Lord Nelson.

As the pub prepares for its new ownership, the community of Oakham is eagerly awaiting its reopening. The Lord Nelson has long been a cherished local spot, known for its friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and good beer.
