On Sunday, July 9, 2023, the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland, Sarah Furness, held a service at All Saints Church in Oakham to honour the people of Rutland who serve in the military, emergency services, and other volunteer organisations.
Oakham Mayor Cllr Sally Anne Wadsworth
After the service, there was a party in Cutts Close Park, where attendees could enjoy military and community stalls, food and drink, children's activities, and live music.
Local band Manky Beds and the Bluebird Belles, a 1940s-inspired trio, performed at the party.
Sarah Furness said the party was a chance for everyone to come together and thank the people who help to keep Rutland safe and strong.
