Rutland County Councils Gluttire

While local councillors and Senior executives at the council make hard working people redundant, the extensive cuts don't seem to have any impact on their lifestyle.

If you pop into to Tesco Oakham on a Sunday the store is awash with district councillors and town councillors.

The photograph below shows one councillors second trolley.

I would like to point out this was not Cllr Peter Jones or Oakham Mayor Cllr Sharon Spencer shopping.

I will point out Cllr Sharon Spencer nearly let slip a smile, but very quickly changed it to a look of oh! dear! I have just stood in two piles of shit!

While on the subject of cuts a special note for the three council officers who monitor my blog.

Why is a keen cyclist and chief executive Helen Briggs paid £9,000 car allowance? when she only lives in walking distance of her office. Can I suggest it is taken away and the money used to save a job cut! Mrs Briggs could use the pool car, I know its ugly but it is practical. Is £119,000 a year not enough to buy her own car?

(for the Oakham Town Councillor who may not understand Gluttire its Latin, The English word is gluttany)

Stephen Wigmore and Family Artists at Victoria Hall Oakham

Over the last week Stephen Wigmore has been exhibiting some of his work at Victoria Hall Oakham.

VIctoria Hall Oakham is held in trust for the people of Oakham. (The Public)

Despite all the signs pointing to the toilets, Victoria Hall state there are no public toilets.

Artists like Stephen who often exhibit at the hall are tired of explaining this to a steady stream of visitors who enter the public building wish to use the toilets, so he has created very quickly the above portrait of himself with a speech balloon instructing visitors. "The Toilets in this building are not for public use"

Next week Stephens Mother Kitty Wigmore, his brother Andrew Wigmore and 8 year old son Jimi Wigmore will be exhibiting their work.

So why not pop along and see last day will be next Sunday.
