What I find strange about the recent clearance of trees and shrubs from inside and outside the castle wall is the workman cleared up all the plant life and left the litter?
I wonder where the wildlife has moved too.
The clearance has been drastic no place for wildlife to hide and few places remain for the birds to nest this spring.
We may see a new perimeter fence at the end of this if Rutland County Council and Oakham Town Council can decide who is responsible for it.
It look highly likely CCTV will be fitted to protect the hall constant vandalism has been a serious problem.
The destruction of the green hedges has created some new views from the castle grounds.
I wonder how beneficial this is and is there any benefit in finding a few mediaeval artefacts?

This will be fun with the combination of the railway crossing, traffic often backs up to here when crossing is down.

Sadly our town is starting to look very scruffy, broken and boarded windows popping up all over the place.
