Spire Homes, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Office to Close

When Spire Homes took on the management and eventual take over of Rutland's Council homes it took a short lease for the above properties from Rutland County Council. That lease has now ended and  Spire
Homes is set to move offices to out of town, in premises owned by Voluntary Action Rutland, Lands End Way.

The move will take place from Monday 8th October 2012

It is not know if Rutland County Council has found a new tenant.

according to local people the former nursing home is haunted?

New Homes, Linden Homes, Stamford Homes, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Rutland

New Homes, Linden Homes, Stamford Homes, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Rutland.

New builds do go up quickly, some one said to me only yesterday they did not even see the old school go.

Cllr Maureen Dodds a Oakham Town Councillor said she has be told the front row of these houses looking out onto Cold Overton Road, will be given to immigrants. She said residents in the area up to Mendip Close are very unhappy with this possibility. I myself saw nothing in the plans to suggest any part of this development would become social housing, but that does not stop any developer at a later stage selling part or all of a development to a social landlord.

Stamford Homes, Linden Homes, Galliford Try Homes Group, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Rutland, Catmose College Site

The demolition of the old Catmose College is due to start very soon, security fences have been erected.
I noticed one small change to the developers sign. The site no longer advertises Stamford Homes. I wonder if this is due to Cllr Alf Dewis stating they build shoddy building and Cllrs Lucas and Haworth saying they did not want a Stamford Homes Ghetto on thier doorstep. The sign now advertises Linden Homes this company is part of the same group owned by Galliford Try Homes Group

Below is the old Stamford homes sign.

Rutland County Council, Approves 125 Stamford Homes, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Rutland

Rutland County Council, Approves 125 Stamford Homes, Cold Overton Road, Oakham, Rutland

125 New Homes will be built on the former Catmose College Site.

It was interesting the Puffin nursery, run by the college was not relocated to the new site. As there seems to be issues with access and parking.

The nursery put in a last minute objection, saying homes being built were over looking their play area.

It was pointed out by one of the paid officers Stamford Homes noise level monitoring tests were inadequate.

Some issues still have to be addressed. It appears new home owners could complain about noise from Rutland Plastics and the council would have to act upon those complaints and it could effect the 24hr operation of the company.  All Councillors were unhappy with this.

The level of affordable housing has reduced.

Councillor Mr Richard J Gale (Independent) - OAKHAM NORTH WEST WARD who was chairing the meeting said he was concerned the Council appeared to ignore the feelings of members and The Town Council.

Despite concerns the application was approved.

This will be fun with the combination of the railway crossing, traffic often backs up to here when crossing is down.
