Her Ladyship Mrs Justice Macur, DBE presided over a sitting of the Crown Court in Oakham Castle, Photographs

Her Ladyship Mrs Justice Macur, presided over a sitting of the Crown Court in Oakham Castle, I managed to  catch these photographs before catching my train.

I asked the Mayor Cllr Joyce Lucas for the date and the time of this event a few days ago she took her hearing aids out and refused to answer?

The ceremony was held in Oakham on Thursday.
The court at Oakham Castle is reputed to be the oldest continuously used assize court in England.
In modern times, a session of the court has been held there once every two years.
Before the court sat, a service of prayer and thanksgiving was conducted by Canon Lee Francis-Dehqani, in Oakham Parish Church, with the Bishop of Peterborough, the Rt Rev Donald Allister.

Everyone was welcome to the service.

At 10.45 am a carriage, with police escort, will proceeded from All Saints Church to the castle.
Starting in Church Street, it passed along High Street and Market Street.
arrived, to a fanfare played by students and staff of Uppingham Community College.
The Honourable Mrs Justice Macur DBE will presided over the sitting of the crown court.
The High Sheriffs of Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland all took part in the ceremony.

Oakham Town Council Planning and Parks Committee

Councillor Nowell was elected as Chairman and Cllr Woodcock as the deputy.

Various items were discussed and planning applications considered.

A working group has been set up to apply for a Townscape Heritage Lottery Grant. It is hoped the Town Partnership, Rutland County Council and landlords and traders will work with the Town Council and the lottery to enhance the West End of the Town.

The working group is made up of  the following: (members nominated me to lead the group!

Councillor Brookes
Councillor Nowell  (Town Partnership member)
Councillor Hopkin
Councillor Dodds (former Town Partnership member)

Six years have passed since people started to talk about the west end of the town. A heritage lottery grant is not expected to resolve all the different issues, it can hopefully help enhance the street scene.
This is a big project and I am hoping the working group will grow if an initial application is accepted

Oakham Town Council Staffing Committee

Oakham Town Council staffing committee met this evening, they elected Cllr Alf Dewis as Chair and Cllr Adam Lowe as Deputy Chair.

Some Members not on the committee remained.

Committee member Cllr Joyce Lucas said she had told the Clerk Richard White "he was not indispensable"

I wonder if this is a contribution towards his current absence?

The committee accepted figures relating to sickness and they were below the national average.
