Oakham Town Council employs a full time Clerk. Reading what the assistant is required to do I can't actually see what is going to fill the Clerks full time hours. Especially as we provide no
public services and hold one meeting a month.
The current Clerk was originally employed to assist the previous clerk and she told he never gave her any any work to do, She often spent time just surfing the net and when I complained
about that the council blanked out the window so the public could not see they were paying

Ensure that notices, Agendas, reports and minutes for the Council, Committees, and Working Groups and Advisory Groups (both electronic and hard copies) are published in accordance with the requires timescales, are printed and distributed as required and are filed and archived in accordance with the regulations.
6. Assist with the day to day operation of the Council’s financial affairs, including:
• Processing of orders, invoices and payments in accordance with agreed procedures
• Verify, code and enter (i.e. allocate to income and expenditure headings) receipts and payments,
• Setting up suppliers and creditors for payment by internet banking
7. Ensure the implementation and maintenance of management information systems, administrative systems, record keeping, filing and archiving systems (both electronic and hard copy), including:
• Planning Application Register and weekly planning applications list
• Members Register of Interests and a record of Members attendance at meetings
• Details of Councillors, their contact information and role and responsibilities,
• Library of Publication Scheme documents
• Personnel Records, including personal details, employment details, absence details (sickness, lateness, authorised / unauthorised(, training and appraisal records
• Details of incidents and accidents
• Details of assets and insurances
• Records of safety checks
• Undertaking weekly computer / server back-ups
8. To provide emergency, lunchtime and holiday cover, as and when required, for the Clerk

A Conservative fighting to retain his seat and his two aides have been charged with electoral fraud as part of a major investigation, less than a week before the country goes to the polls.
The Crown Prosecution Service announced on Friday that Craig Mackinlay, defending South Thanet for his party, has been charged following a probe into his 2015 election campaign expenses.
The CPS's statement said Mr Mackinlay, 50, is accused of "falsely" declaring expenses in the run up to the vote, which saw him narrowly defeat Ukip's Nigel Farage.

Rutland County Councillor Diana MacDuff has resigned as Ward Member for Ketton with immediate effect.
Rutland County Councillor Diana MacDuff has resigned as Ward Member for Ketton with immediate effect.
Councillor MacDuff has represented residents in the Ketton area since her election in May 2015 and has resigned in order to focus more time on her career.
Cllr MacDuff said: “It is with great regret that I to resign as a Member of Rutland County Council. My professional career is developing in a way that will leave me with less time to devote to Council business. On this basis it would be unfair of me to continue.
“This hasn't been an easy decision as I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Councillor and, in particular, the opportunity to represent my Ward. I wish the Council the best of luck for the future. As a Rutland resident, I will continue to watch with interest.”
Helen Briggs, Chief Executive of Rutland County Council, said: “We would like to offer our sincerest thanks Councillor MacDuff for the invaluable contribution she has made to Rutland County Council throughout her time as an elected member and for the work she has done to support residents of Ketton, Barrowden, Tixover and Tinwell.
“Moving forward, a by-election will take place in Ketton if a request for an election is received from two registered electors. An election will then be held to fill the ward member vacancy within 35 days, with further details made available to residents in due course.”
