A few weeks ago a friends central heating failed and they called upon their trusty British Gas service contract.
A engineer visited replaced a pump.
He told the friend British Gas will only honour future repairs via the service contract if they had the system flushed clean and a filter fitted. The reluctantly agreed to the procedure. Cost around £600.
On Monday British Gas arrived carried out the work. Later that evening the system failed.
they telephone British Gas.
No engineer was available to visit so a appointment was booked for Tuesday. They waited in all day British gas did not turn up.
They Telephoned British Gas. The telephone call lasted 3 hours. British gas refusing to take any responsibility.
The original advisor was helpful and passed the call to her supervisor who refused to pass the call to his manager.
To cut a long story short the call ended with the supervisor agreeing to check if they had infact made a call in the first place to British Gas.
30 minutes later he called back to say he had found a record of the call made Monday evening.
My friend has to take another day of work today just in case British Gas decide to honour the contract today.
Next time you see one of those cheesy British Gas adverts I hope you remember this customers dealing with British Gas. It was not their first problem.
