RAF Cottesmore Protest Letter I am hoping the Rutland Times and Mercury will print my reply in the letters page, with no interference from the Town Council.

The author of last weeks letter is correct Oakham Town Council, should hold principles, Two of them are Accountability and Openness

Holders of public office are accountable for their decisions and actions to the public and must submit themselves to whatever scrutiny is appropriate.

Holders of public office should be as open as possible about all decisions and actions they take. They should give reasons for thier decisions and restrict information only when the wider public interest clearly demands. Oakham Town Council in my view has long forgotten these principles and many others.
