I remember the church cantor who used to have a beautiful voice, she sung like an Angel as she aged she lost that beauty, but her passion to continue was strong, each Sunday we paid for her to travel from Oxford. We endured her cackle. No one wished to upset her, No one would say its time to retire they felt it would be unkind.
Last night, I sat and listened to public criticism, of our council leader, it was sad, "look at the belly," "look at his finger nails," "what a disgrace." I believe the passion in his reply, when he was attacked my a member of the public, he does care for his county and it is possible he did once lead an effective council, but this is no longer true. It is clear from what I am told he does not have the support of all his staff.
He says he will stand again in May and I am sure once again he will be nominated in more than ward so he can chose a safe seat. This activity should be banned it shows no loyalty to serve it shows desperation.
I wonder why his close friends don't just say is it not time to retire?
I strongly believe no councillor should stand more than two terms.
