There is more than one way Rutland County Council 4Rutland Election May 2011

For many years now Rutland County Council has been telling people there is only one way to go!

The photograph above shows how dictatorial our council is, we all know the standard one way sign, but our council needs to waste money to explaining it. The pedestrian below sign points a little arrow the other way. Is this little arrow defiance a glimmer of hope for Rutland.

A small group has been set up to tackle the big problem, they say:

A number of Rutland County Councillors are concerned that the Council has evolved into something that puts a Councillor’s Party Political badge first and before the wishes and aspirations of those living and working in Rutland. Debate at Full Council Meetings on major issues is brief, having been largely considered by the Political Party machine behind closed doors.

There is a lack of transparency and some well qualified Councillors are sidelined leaving them with little influence in debate that could be about spending £Millions of public money. With such a small Council this can not be good for Rutland and the people we serve in these difficult times. Four Independent and one Conservative Councillor who were elected to serve the people and not a Party have decided to group together to form a stronger body. www.4rutland.com

Mr Nicholas Mark Wainwright (Conservative) can I trust him, if I am to believe what this group is saying?
Afterall he is a friend of are charming Chief Executive who has supported the political majority.

I have know doubt I can trust
Mr Richard J Gale (Independent)

As for the others? I met one at a parish forum he was a real pompous git and another reprimanded me for standing in his ward for Town Council because I did not live there.

In the new year the Leader Roger Begy announced the council was not political, I wonder what meetings he attends are they held in Greetham as they don't seem to be held in the Whipper Inn anymore since one councillor expressed his upset at not being invited at a Council meeting.

I add to Mr Begy's request please, people of Rutland stand against all of them at May's election.

Some work hard, others of stale and complacent, its time for change. The ballot box can be used to weed out the rotten from the good.
