Rutland Citizen Advice Bureau, Oakham, Victory for the Citizens

When I received this letter, I was concerned the CAB may be spending valuable funds fattening up Councillors.

I wrote to the CAB and received a reply, I was told the trustees were paying for the light lunch and sparkling wine. Not the local tax payers. The Trustees of course receive funding from central government. I pointed this out to Mrs Clayton-Jones and suggested the Trustees should invite the people who use her valuable service along with the volunteers.

I arranged a meeting with Mrs Clayton Jones and the tax payer will now be pleased to hear, she will be driving to France and buying the wine and no money from the CAB pot will be spent on wine and food. In her own words "all the money will be coming out of my own purse". Leaving plenty for the valuable work volunteers does for local residents often in desperate need.

If I am elected in May I will attempt to stop all this public money wasted in Rutland on jollies for Councillors and their chums.

I have witnessed Rutland County Council wasting hundreds on food.

This complaint is nothing new, when I first moved to Oakham, I was employed and got fed up seeing Oakham Town councillors having a feast at the Whipper Inn at the annual lunches, this no longer happens. I wrote to the Rutland Times complaining, people don't work and pay taxes for the benefit of these Councillors and my view about this has not changed over the years.
