Rutland County Council Election Chaos
Rutland County Councils Democratic Services is working very hard organising the County, Town and Parish elections. It appears they have far too much work for such few staff thanks to Chief Executive Helen Briggs cuts.
Candidates for the unitary authority have received nomination acceptance letters from the returning officer this is also another of Helen Briggs jobs.
Unfortunately candidates for town and parish councils have not received these letters. Nominations close Monday noon, so this will give candidates very little time to correct any possible errors on their nomination forms. If you have not received a letter I suggest you visit Rutland County Council before noon Monday as tiny error will result in a candidates disqualification.
Mrs Briggs has also decided to close the council office on a important date 7th April for staff training.
7th April is the date when candidates need to withdraw nominations often done after publication of nominations.
I pointed this out to Rutland County Council, they have now arranged the following. The reception area will remain open a telephone and number will be made available for those who need to speak or hand in retraction forms to democratic services.
