Extra Bollard For All Saints Church Yard Oakham
Extra Bollard For All Saints Church Yard Oakham
Oakham Town Council is to fit an addition bollard on the pavement at the entrance to All Saints Church
Yard.
3 were fitted to prevent motorists damaging the grave stones.
The extra bollard is required due to owners of smaller cars driving around the bollard using the pavement.
Back in 2010 parking and damage to the grave stone became a serious issue
After I photographed the above car parked and it was witnessed turning
and leaving driving over the grave stones, The Church warden then
invited the Rutland Times to come along and photograph the problem
the Town Council then decide it was time to put the three bollards in place.
(the above car belonged to a family member of the then Mayor of Oakham.)
Many a local dignitaries showed how indignant they were
this included staff from Oakham School, Clergy and local
councillors there family and friends. Including a well know
public speaker.
It is hoped spending another £140 (plus fitting) on the extra bollard
will stop this happening again.
