Leicestershire Constabulary Chief Constable's Christmas Message

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to reflect on some of the challenges faced by my officers and staff, but also celebrate some of our achievements.

During 2011, we have, literally, fought to protect the City from those who wanted to bring chaos and destruction to it during the summer disorder; we have made 20,000 arrests, dealt with over 700,000 emergency and non-emergency calls and continued to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
We have brought in new systems to help improve our service, we have safeguarded thousands of people, patrolled millions of miles and at the same time, made necessary savings of £15 million.
But none of this could have been possible without help and support from yourselves – the public of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and, as we start to celebrate the festive season, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your continued assistance and co-operation.
At the same time, I’d also ask you to spare a thought for the men and women of your local police force this Christmas - they are out and about, dealing with whatever they confront, without fear or favour.  That might be a crime, it might be anti-social behaviour, it might be a drink driver, they might be taking a call for assistance, or examining a crime scene or making sure the books balance or providing HR support.  So look out for them today as you go about your daily business and please give them a thought as they go about protecting you and those you care about.
As we move into a new year, we will face even more new and exciting challenges, not least that surrounding the policing of the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Queen’s Jubilee year and welcoming an elected Police and Crime Commissioner.  I hope I can depend on you continuing to be there for us during 2012 and beyond.
On behalf of all my officers and staff, I would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

I don't trust the managers who are more interested in fudging the stats for the Government..........some stopped being Police Constables when they put Government before the job, in contradicts what we represent..........they are selling their own standards for 25 pieces so far as i am concerned
