A Concert of English String Music Stamford Arts Centre
Ben Palmer conducts the strings of the
Stamford Chamber Orchestra in a
programme of English music opening
with the haunting Chacony in G minor
by Purcell, in an arrangement by
Benjamin Britten. Two movements
from William Walton's Henry V Suite
adapted from this most successful film
score, are followed by Warlocks 1926
Capriol Suite, a 20th Century take on a
set of French Renaissance dances. SCO
will also perform Holst's well loved
St Paul's Suite and Elgar's peaceful
Elegy. Finally Britten reappears with his
playful Simple Symphony. An evening
that will delight all lovers of string music.
