Five arrested following Oakham Boxing Day robbery

Police have arrested five people in connection with a robbery that happened in Oakham on Boxing Day last year (2011).
The incident took place at about 10.30pm on Monday December 26 in West Road when the victims, all aged in their 20s, were approached by four men and threatened with bladed weapons before items were stolen from them.

Amongst the items stolen was a Mulberry Purse, two Apple iPhones and some Golden Virginia tobacco which had foreign writing on the packet.

One of the victims was also punched and the vehicle was kicked causing damage to the driver’s side door.
Five men have been arrested in connection with the incident, aged 23, 20, 17 and two aged 16-years-old, and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Michelle Preston is investigating the incident, she said: “We have arrested five men in connection with the incident so far but are still appealing for anyone with information to call us.
“Thankfully none of the victims were seriously injured but this was an understandably frightening experience for them.

“These types of incidents are extremely rare in Oakham and that’s why we hope members of the community will come together to help us bring those responsible to justice.
